  14. I purchased a Zoom V.34X, model 470, 28.8 external, ROM ver. 1.309, about 2 months 
  15. ago. I've been reading the posts here, and in addition to my own experience with 
  16. this V.34X,  have come to the conclusion that the Zoom 28.8 modems are a poor 
  17. investment!

  19. I'll make a long story short..... I've tried everything to make this modem work.
  20. Computer is a pentium 75CD, running Win95 TCP/IP with 32 bit Netscape 2.01. The 
  21. Zoom will not stay connected to my ISP.

  23. Had mt phone line checked for noise....phone company says it's o.k.

  25. The modem is connected directly from the telco box with good quality solid copper 
  26. phone wire. No other devices on the line.

  28. Tried many different init strings suggested to me by Zoom tech support, my ISP 
  29. tech support, this newsgroup, modem FTP sites, the Zoom V.34X manual, etc.

  31. While trying to get this modem to work properly I have had to go back to my 14.4 
  32. which connects every time with no problems (PPI PM144MT II).

  34. Been through all the Rockwell RPI stuff....makes no difference, same problems with 
  35. or without it.

  37. The only option is to bite the bullet and buy another brand.....any suggestions?

  39. BTW, when I explained all this to Zoom tech support, the rep praised the PPI 
  40. modems while he was trying to figure out the problem with my V.34X!! Does that 
  41. tell you something????
